Plus Accounting were crowned Snailfie Challenge winners at the Martlets Hospice event on Wednesday 26 September after finding a staggering 34 snails in two hours.

A total of ten teams took part in the event around Brighton on a lovely sunny day.

The teams were; Griffith Smith LLP, Cardens Accountants, Graves, Son & Pilcher, Plus Accounting, Austin Rees, Ideal, Fastnet, North Laine Financial Management, The Artists and The Caxton Arms

It was clear to see that all 10 teams came prepared for the challenge as the excitement built ahead of the 3pm start time. The Plus Accounting team wasted no time and quickly ran down to the seafront to eagerly hit the ground running. After just 16 minutes we had already got 8 ‘Snailfies’. Our planned route was very well devised, however busy roads saw a total of 17 minutes between snail 12 and snail 13, but we quickly got back on track!

After getting 4 around the Old Steine and a few down on Brighton beach we made our way to the Brighton Pier where we secured our final 2 selfies, which brought us up to the impressive tally of 34 ‘Snailfies’.

Teams one by one arrived at the finishing location, which was Horatios Bar, Brighton Pier, in time for the 5pm deadline. A team from Martlets and Griffith Smith LLP counted and verified the scores and announced the eagerly awaited results. The outcome had to be decided by a tie break question after both Plus Accounting and Graves, Son & Pilcher recorded 34 snailfies each.

The deciding question was ‘How many metres per hour does a snail travel?’. Our answer was the closest and so we were crowned champions of the Snail Selfie Challenge!

We were kindly rewarded with a Bottomless Brunch for 6 people at the Brighton Hilton Metropole along with a box of chocolates.

Overall it was a great event and raised over £2,500 for Martlets Hospice. We would like to congratulate all that took part and say thank you to Griffith Smith LLP who provided us with some much needed Fish & Chips, along with Brighton Hilton Metropole for their kindly donated prize.
