The majority of directors support getting a Brexit deal approved, according to a survey following the publication of a draft withdrawal agreement on 14 November 2018.
A poll of 816 Institute of Directors (IoD) members revealed that 72% think it's important a withdrawal agreement is ratified before the UK leaves the EU in March 2019.
When considering the effects of a no-deal scenario, two-thirds say it would be somewhat or very negative for their business, while only 13% say it would be positive.
However, respondents were split over whether holding a second referendum would be in the interests of their organisation, with 46% saying it would, 44% saying it would not, and 11% unsure.
Stephen Martin, director-general of the IoD, said:
"The message from our members is clear: they urgently want to see the UK get a withdrawal deal across the line.
"Up and down the country, firms large and small are deeply concerned by the potential for a no-deal scenario, and business investment is already being choked off by the surrounding uncertainty.
"The need to avoid no deal must be at the forefront of MPs' minds when they come to vote on the agreement."
