Xero has begun rolling out a brand-new homepage experience (previously known as the dashboard), and if you use Xero regularly, you might notice the layout start to look a little different over the next few weeks.
As Xero specialists here at Plus Accounting, we know change in accounting software can sometimes feel unsettling, especially when it affects your day-to-day workflow. So in this blog, I’m breaking down what’s new, why it’s changing, and how you can make the most of the update.
Whether you use Xero for bookkeeping, cash flow planning, invoicing, or performance tracking, this new homepage has been designed to make key financial information clearer, faster and more personalised.
What’s New in the Xero Homepage Update?
This update isn’t just a visual refresh, Xero has redesigned the homepage based on feedback from more than 33,000 users, including business owners, bookkeepers and accountants.
Here are the biggest updates you’ll notice:
Clearer Financial Insights
Xero has made your key widgets more insightful and introduced new ones to help quickly answer important questions, such as:
- “How much profit or loss am I making right now?”
- “Which invoices have just been paid?”
- “What tasks need my attention today?”
These additions help you make faster, more confident financial decisions.
Fully Customisable Dashboard
You can now tailor your homepage so it reflects how you work.
You can:
✔ Drag and drop widgets
✔ Resize them
✔ Hide the ones you don’t need
✔ Reorder your view based on priority
The best part?
Your layout is unique to you and doesn’t affect how others in your organisation see theirs.
Temporary Switch-Back Option
If the new layout feels unfamiliar at first, Xero is offering a temporary ability to switch back to the classic dashboard.
However, this will automatically revert back to the new version after 24 hours, helping you transition gradually.
How to Get Help and Learn the New Layout
Xero has shared some useful support tools to help you get comfortable with the redesign:

New features can take a little getting used to and that’s completely normal. But with improved insights and personalisation, this update has a lot of potential to make Xero even more useful as a real-time financial management tool.
If you’d like hands-on support or personalised Xero training, just get in touch, we’d be happy to help.
