DWP launches mid-life MOT website

The Department for Work and Pensions has launched a website promoting ‘mid-life MOTs’ for people to assess their career plans, financial situation, and physical health.

The portal includes a link to the Government’s Check your State Pension service, alongside guidance from several pension advice bodies to help individuals plan for later life.

The website says:

“Many of us are living longer, and if we want to enjoy later life, staying healthy and planning to have enough money to live on really matters.

“The mid-life MOT is a package of support that gives you access to free, professional and independent advice to help you with pension planning, working options and staying healthy.”

The Government is also advocating for businesses to offer mid-life MOTs to their staff, a service which was trialled in 2018 by employers including Aviva, Legal & General and the Pensions Advisory Service.

Alok Sharma, Minister for Employment, said that as the results of these pilots are shared, “we will start to see how the mid-life MOT can be used to ignite a cultural shift in how people plan for their later career”.
