A New Chapter for Plus Accounting: Luke Thomas Takes the Helm

From 25 March 2025 – After more than three decades at the forefront of Plus Accounting, Paul Feist is stepping down as Managing Director, passing the leadership baton to Luke Thomas, a long-standing member of the team and a driving force behind the firm’s growth, innovation, and sector expertise.

As part of this transition, Plus Accounting also acknowledges the official retirement of Peter Hedgethorne, who, alongside Paul, was a founding partner of Feist Hedgethorne Limited. Peter joined the firm a year after Paul and has been instrumental in shaping its tax advisory services. While he transitioned into a consultant role a few years ago, the firm has greatly valued his expertise and specialist tax knowledge. Though Peter is stepping away from day-to-day practice, we are certain he will remain a trusted source of wisdom, and we may still find ourselves calling on him when we have a burning tax question! His contributions to both our team and clients have been invaluable, and we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.

This transition marks an exciting new phase for Plus Accounting, as the firm continues its commitment to excellence in financial support, digital transformation, and client-focused solutions.

Looking Back: Paul Feist’s Legacy at Plus Accounting

Paul has been instrumental in shaping Plus Accounting into the firm it is today.  Under his leadership, the business has grown from a small local practice to a respected accountancy firm serving businesses across Brighton and beyond. His approach has always been client-focused, ensuring that businesses receive proactive, strategic support tailored to their individual needs.

Reflecting on his time as MD, Paul Feist shared:

“Many years ago, it became clear to me that what clients valued most was for me to put myself in their shoes, draw on the experience of having worked with hundreds of different clients and advise them what I think they should do in any particular situation.  So that is what I have always tried to do and that forms the basis of how we operate as a firm:  if that was my money or my business, what would I do?    Thoughtful, creative and caring advice is the key to becoming a trusted adviser.”
