Tax Reliefs & Incentives for the Creative Industries - Does your business qualify?
13th October 2015
On 29 September, we held our 5th workshop of the year on 'Tax Reliefs and Incentives for the Creative Industries - Does your business qualify?' We held this event as part of the Brighton Digital Festival month and had a great attendance at MyHotel.
Peter Hedgethorne, Tax Director, discussed what EIS and Seed EIS can do for your business, he looked at the benefits and criteria of these two incentives and how Seed EIS was popular among start ups in the local business community. He briefly discussed the rules of the Patent Box and advised that it would be best practice to speak with a Patent Box Attorney if you were thinking of using this incentive - we recommend Dehns for this.
Luke Thomas, Director and Head of our Technology, Media & Innovation department (TMI) looked at the number of reliefs available, including R&D, Film Tax Relief, Animation Tax Relief, High-end Television Tax Relief, Video Games Tax Relief and Theatre Tax Relief. These areas were briefly discussed and if anybody wanted to look at a particular relief in more detail, it is recommended to speak with us or your accountant so a better understanding of your business and requirements can be understood.
